Your privacy matters.

We believe software can be powerful without being invasive. Here's exactly what data Sadnes collects, why it exists, and how you can control it.

Overview

Sadnes (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a premium Minecraft client available at sadnes.tech. We take privacy seriously — not as a legal checkbox, but as a genuine commitment to the people who trust us with their data.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Sadnes, why we collect it, how it is stored and protected, and the choices you have over your own data. By creating an account or using the Sadnes client, you agree to the practices described here.

What We Collect

We collect only the information needed to operate, secure, and improve Sadnes. This includes:

  • Account email addressProvided at registration; used for login, purchase confirmation, and support.
  • Hardware Identifier (HWID)A non-reversible fingerprint of your machine, used to bind your licence and prevent account sharing.
  • Usage & crash logsAnonymous telemetry including module toggles, session length, and crash stack traces. No gameplay content or chat is recorded.
  • Payment metadataTransaction ID and status only — forwarded by our payment processor (Stripe or equivalent). We never see or store raw card numbers.
  • IP addressLogged at authentication to detect suspicious logins. Retained for 30 days, then purged.

We do not collect Minecraft account credentials, in-game chat, screen recordings, or any data beyond what is listed above.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide and improve Sadnes. Specifically:

  • Verify your licence and authenticate sessions
  • Deliver purchased subscriptions and process refunds
  • Diagnose crashes and fix bugs reported through telemetry
  • Send transactional emails (purchase receipts, password resets)
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes. Period.

Hardware Identification (HWID) & Why

Sadnes uses a hardware identifier to bind each active licence to a single machine. This is a one-way hash derived from stable hardware attributes (motherboard serial, CPU ID, and similar). The raw hardware values are never transmitted — only the resulting hash is stored on our servers.

HWID binding exists to enforce per-account licensing and prevent credential sharing. If you legitimately change hardware (new PC, major component replacement), you are entitled to a HWID reset — see the Terms of Service for the reset policy. HWID data is deleted when your account is removed.

Cookies & Local Storage

The Sadnes website uses a minimal set of cookies:

  • Session cookieKeeps you logged in to the dashboard. Expires when you sign out or after 14 days of inactivity.
  • Theme preferenceStores your chosen light/dark theme in localStorage. Never leaves your browser.
  • Analytics (optional)If enabled, privacy-respecting, cookieless aggregate analytics (e.g., Plausible) help us understand which pages are useful. No fingerprinting or cross-site tracking.

No advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party behavioural profiling are used on sadnes.tech.

Third-Party Services

To operate Sadnes we share limited data with the following trusted processors:

  • Payment processor (Stripe or equivalent)Handles card transactions. Receives your email and billing address. Governed by their own PCI-DSS compliant privacy policy.
  • DiscordOur primary community and support channel. If you contact support via Discord, Discord's own privacy policy governs that interaction.
  • Cloud hosting / CDNOur servers run on reputable EU/US cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

We do not use Meta Pixel, Google Analytics (GA4), or any ad-network SDK.

Data Retention

We keep your data only as long as necessary:

  • Account data (email, HWID hash): retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
  • Crash / telemetry logs: aggregated after 90 days, raw data purged.
  • IP logs: purged after 30 days.
  • Payment records: retained for 7 years to comply with financial regulations, but only the transaction metadata (no card data).

If you believe a minor has registered without parental consent, contact us and we will promptly delete the account.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Updated” date at the top of this page and, where practical, notify registered users by email. Continued use of Sadnes after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
